How Many Passengers Fit in a Charter Bus, Minibus, or Sprinter Van?

Why passenger count on paper doesn't match real capacity

A vehicle's listed passenger capacity assumes everyone's carrying a small bag, not a week's worth of luggage, strollers, and theme park souvenirs. Choosing the right size is one of the most common questions we get across our Orlando group transportation bookings.

Sedans and SUVs: 1 to 6 passengers

Sedans work for one to three passengers with standard luggage. SUVs stretch that to five or six, though a full SUV with six adults and a week of luggage for a Disney trip is tighter than it sounds.

Sprinter vans: up to 14 passengers

Sprinter vans are the sweet spot for mid-size groups — family reunions, small corporate teams, wedding parties — with enough room for real luggage without needing a full-size bus.

Minibuses: 20 to 40 passengers

Minibuses fit school groups, sports teams, and mid-size corporate events. Below roughly 35 passengers, a minibus is often cheaper overall than a full coach, even though the per-vehicle rate is lower on a coach. See our pricing guide for how vehicle size affects the total cost.

Charter buses: up to 55 passengers

Full-size coaches make sense past 35 to 40 passengers, or for any trip with a long drive where onboard restrooms and extra legroom matter more.

When to split into two vehicles instead of one large one

Groups with widely different schedules — some people wanting to leave a theme park early, others staying to closing — are sometimes better served by two smaller vehicles than one bus everyone has to coordinate around.
